Pandachief, You have an amazing collection. Thanks for posting. I have a 1934 Nickel III. The vulcanite was brownish, like tobacco stain. When I treated the vulcanite, to avoid drying and cracking, as recommended in the Leica FAQ-vulcanite-nemeng article, the vulcanite became richer in black and there was this brown-greenish residue on the cleaning rag. I read later that it may be metal oxidation through the years. I cleaned it again a year later with the same result, but less oxidation of the metal bleeding through the vulcanite. I do not know if Leica used brown vulcanite. Perhaps the vulcanite on your II may be from oxidation. |
