Ah I see, I'm using a paterson developing tank (reel + tank) and it find it fairly easy to use. With regards to the sticky issue, probably maybe an one off issue with that roll. I do see some odd artifacts in your two photos here that might be due to improper fixing (either duration or dilution or exhaustion of the mixture itself). I onced incorrectly did my fixing dilution and my films end up feeling sticky as well, might want to explore that possibility. Here is my flow... I use HC-110 B dilution.
1) Black bag and contents within (scissors, can opener, two empty reels, tank, film)
2) Reel the film onto the reels, place in tank, cap cover and remove tank from black bag
3) Mix developer with required dilution and pour into tank and start developing stage
4) Pour developer out and pour water into tank and start rinse
5) Test fixer diluted solution on left over film pieces (from step 1), ensure the film clears within reasonable time
6) Pour fixer into tank and start fixing stage
7) Pour fixer back into fixer containers and pour water into tank and start wash stage
8) Prepare photo flo mixture (few drops of photo flo + water)
9) Pour water out of tank and pour in photo flo mixture
10) Stand for a few mins and unmount tank and unmount film, hang onto clip
11) Dip two fingers into photo flo mixture and squeegee off excess liquid on films
12) Hang dry with weight at bottom.
the greatest fun doing your own bw developing is the control/pushing/pulling and seeing the negatives.
