I think 11874 is a lens with very beautiful rendering but its performance is not perfect in the following areas:
- Edge and corner resolution - place your subject on the far edge and try, particularly using large apertures
- Very high contrast situations, particularly under artificial light (e.g. dark theater with strong illumination on only a part of the scene)
- Chromatic aberration when used in contra jour situations.
This is where the 50AA comes in and is supposed to excel. Unfortunately, 50AA has central veiling flare under diffuse light and production is now halted pending a solution to this issue. (If you are interested, there is a separate thread in this site about this.) |
