I enjoy reading 0.95 ching's comments. Quite all rounded and good summary.
I think CMOS sensor can never give you the "texture" of CCD. Older CCD sensors of old Nikon camera or Olympus also give you very good saturated colour too, when compare to their newer CMOS cameras. I remember when I use a Olympus E5, under good lighting, the colour was very charming.
For a day to day camera, AF, CMOS and movie etc. make a lot of sense. I like the Leica Q too and look forward to their future Leica Q/T combo, which should be a FF CMOS with changeble lens. I believe this should be what Leica offer next.
For rangefinder, it make a lot of sense to keep our M9-P for the CCD alone. M240 is a good camera too and IMO the best CMOS performance out there, the tuning of colour is very very good.. I don't see any of the "greyish" colour on many other CMOS cameras...
0.95 ching, my guess is that the lenses of the X series and probably Q probably also made in Japan (or partial) but since they were finally assembled in Germany the entire camera can be called "Made in Germany" as a package. In Leica T case, since the lenses were seperated, they cannot call the lenses "Made in Germany". This is just my guess.... of course Leica S lens also made in Germany with AF so they do have the skills and facilities to produce AF lens in Germany. |
