used tele elmar 135/4 with 1.4x on M9 before.... rather difficult to frame... focusing is hit and miss, 50% la.... picture is sharp and pretty....

maybe not related to your real question about APO Telyt

I only have 135 tele elmar.  Apo is quite expensive for a focal length I seldom use on rangefinder.  

Used it on 0.85 finder with magnifier.  Focusing not an issue.  

I find the tele elmar with its exceptional picture quality and unbeatable price with give the apo a run for the money.

Have been considering to upgrade from my tele elmar since its launch and tried it a few times, in fact, whenever I had a chance but, still considering....
I found it slightly better than the tele elmar but the key is that I personally felt it is not as good as the 90 AA which I already brought.
Same as all Ching said, 135 requies more efforts/patient on RF, 1.4x would definitely help and I tried this one too but finally decided on 1.25x

Almost useless focal in RF, why not use tele in SLR ? I owned this lens  and used 1-2 times max once a year.

With EVF and focus assist functions, the 135mm is bcoming a more useful tool vs rangefinder only focusing. The Zeiss Apo with max apperture of f2 is very attractive for using on A7/A7r/M240. I just wonder how Apo Telyt compare to Zeiss Apo 135/2.  Looking at the price and MTF, the Zeiss is a winner in both but much heavier.

I used the 1.4X magnifier in conjunction with a 1.35X magnifier from Japanese Exposure on an M9. I have 3 APO Leica lenses, the 90mm/f2, the 135mm/f3.4 and the R 180mm/f2.8, pros - super sharp, cons - no character because they all 'look' the same because of the highly-corrected aberrations. For the price of Leica lenses, and if sharpness is your thing, the 90mm/f2 and 134/f3.4 are 'steals' if there is such a thing for Leica lenses.
