求助：Contax RF 镜年份及资料咁难揾

收到几支玩具 （Post war Carl Zeiss ），想了解下生产年份，有无不同结构，外观……等

上网找都係无乜準和清晰，不像Leica那么一清二楚。

想求助各位有乜好推介。

It is true that not many information is available to match the SN with the year of production. But based on my experience of owning / selling many Sonnar 50/1.5, the following is a short summary. Correct me if you find something different.

1. Opton Chrome nose 50/1.5, 5-digit SN, with Red T. The earliest one I own before was from 9. Try to avoid it as the first three elements were glued together so cannot be cleaned.
2. Opton Chrome nose 50/1.5, 6-digit SN with Red T. Some with improved design as the front group can be dismantled for maintenance. But should avoid it because you don't know unless you open it.
3. Opton Black nose 50/1.5, 6-digit or 7-digit SN (started with 10), with and without Red T. Properly the most commonly found Sonnar 50/1.5
4. Carl Zeiss Black nose 50/1.6 7-digit SN (started with 1), without Red T. Only one retaining ring on the front, i.e. on the filter rim, only on retaining ring to hold the front element in position.
5. Carl Zeiss Black nose 50/1.6 7-digit SN (started with 15), without Red T. Two retaining rings on the front. The latest no. I ever have started from 1977xxx.

While for the post-war black nickel, the SN started also with 1, 7-digit.

As a buying recommendation, I would suggest to get any one except 1 and 2. If price is very good for 1 & 2, do remember to check the rim on the front group. If you spot three black haze on the rim, don't buy (unless very very cheap) as it cannot be opened to fix. Sometimes you may note that the rear group has some kind of haze inside for all versions. This may likely be a cemented deterioration and difficult to fix, buy still possible.

One finally thing is that most (or all) Contax RF lenses can be adjusted forward and backward. So, if you need to use it on M, you will face the situation of adjusting a three-parameter system, i.e. the Camera, the adapter and the lens and you have not idea which one is truly in factory specification. So it is why someone would have the issue of focusing. Adjustment is simple but need tools and experience (bad....)
