A7 new firmware is out

just checked the sony website, the new firmware is out.  

the instructions look complicated, why can't they just let us save the new firmware to the memory card and then install the card to the camera and upgrade.....

Sony is offering a firmware upgrade for Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera ILCE-7.

Improvements after firmware upgrade

Provides support for SEL70200G
- Provides support for ”Fast Hybrid AF”
   Will also provide support for Fast Hybrid AF compatible E mount lenses in the future.
- Adds functions including the "Focus hold button"
Reduces start-up time
- The start-up time has been reduced in cases when the camera is switched on immediately after being switched off.
Improves image quality
Provides support for additional ”Play Memories Camera Apps” and additional features for previously supported apps.
-Provides support for "Liveview Grading" and "Smooth Reflection" applications.
-Provides support for the smooth automatic exposure feature in the "Time-lapse" application ver. 2.00 and later.

One should be glad that Sony is even providing firmware upgrade (unlike Fuji or Ricoh)..good luck for firmware upgrade if you are Nikon/Canon owners..;-)

installed…but have not noticed any significant start up speed improvement yet...

AF with my 55FE seems to be a tad faster.

couldnt notice much difference with photo quality, start-up time is indeed quicker though
